The Amherst NH difference, living in New Hampshire.
The Amherst NH difference, living in New Hampshire.
Living in Amherst New Hampshire, some things are different.
Some
things are different when you move to the country. Now Amherst NH mind
you, is not what I consider remote, but when you get outside of the
city, some things are just different, such as:
Water: Most homes are serviced by drilled wells, city water is not available in most rural areas.
Sewer: Most homes are serviced by Septic Systems as city sewers do not extend into rural areas
Gas: Natural gas is limited and homes that use gas are serviced by Propane tanks that are generally buried.
Trash:
Trash pickup is intermittent by town; there are many private companies
that provide weekly pickup and even provide recycling services.
Streetlights: Nope, these are few and far between when you get outside of the city and well traveled roads.
Other
differences include fresh air, lots of community events and Country
Fairs, lots of trees and open fields, woods and walking trails and a
general sense of belonging.
Amherst
has Amherst Village and the Amherst Village Green, Souhegan High
School, Souhegan Golf Club, Amherst Country Club, great access to Route 3
and commuting, small town feel with big town access to services, the
malls in Nashua and Manchester and soon to be Merrimack, Amherst has Mouton's in Amherst Village, JBeaners, The Black Forest Cafe, The Antique Car Show, The Fall Antique Show in the Green and oh so much more.
I wouldn't trade living in Amherst NH for anything!
